Injuring??? No way, killing. A bright sunny day raised up one Friday morning. And Nyx, a very rare creature of the night, yawned, slowly opening her eyes to the beautiful day. Nyx was kind at times, and sadistic at others. Her red hair glints in the sunlight as strands of hair blow against her curious mahogany face. Nyx’s round ears twitch when she senses something headed her way and her doglike nose is in the air searching for new smells that she does not accustom to. Nyx lives in a forest on the south coast of Florida. Many people hunt her down there, but they can never catch her. Nyx’s long nails grow faster everyday just like her razor sharp teeth, making it very effortless to penetrate a hunter’s flesh. Suddenly, Nyx’s ears twitch. This sent isn’t like the others she’s smelled before. This sent is small, seems almost harmless. Nyx’s nose leads her into the direction where the smell was coming from. She realizes that it’s a little boy. This particular boy has short brown hair, small ears and barely any teeth. The poor little boy’s clothes are torn from the protruding thorns and tree branches, his face muddy from the dirty mud piles in the forest. Why the boy only looks three years old. Nyx slowly makes her way towards the boy. The mystifying child backs away, but it only drew Nyx near. Nyx has never seen anything so small in her life. She’s only been around big people like adults not little kids like … well Nyx doesn’t know the little boy’s name. Nyx slowly crawls around the boy’s shaking leg, her light brown fur brushing the child’s bare feet. She continuously crawls around the boy’s leg but stops when something huge catches her eye. A huge grizzly bear creeps out from behind the bushes. This wasn’t just a regular grizzly bear, this bear is names Joe. Joe has killed everything in his path. He has actually slaughtered Nyx’s family. Her mother, father, brother, sister, and two day year old daughter’s life was taken by Joe. Joe growls furiously. The little boy screams in terror because of Joe’s reaction to seeing Nyx. Joe and Nyx never did get along, one because of the extermination of her family and second, she liked to make peace. Nyx never did like killing other critters of the night. But if she did it was only for self defense and the defense of others. Nyx’s eyes slowly turn a dark red which means she’s ready to attack. Anger courses through her veins as her eyes grow darker and darker. Nyx leaps forward in the boy’s defense. A snarl rips up her throat. Joe growls in return and lunges forward Nyx. Nyx neatly doges the attack and sprints through Joe’s open legs. Nyx sinks her sharp teeth into Joe’s back ankle. Joe roars in pain as the venom from Nyx’s bite is now quickly spreading through Joe’s body. Nyx figures she should probably finish Joe off now. She sinks her teeth into the grizzly bear’s other ankle making it impossible for him to walk. But this time Nyx hangs on to her grip around Joe’s ankle. She drags him to the nearby river and tosses Joe’s limp body inside the rushing water. Nyx sits there and watch Joe’s dead body quickly drift away. Nyx glances at the boy, her eyes still flaming mad. She crawls back over to the child and curls into a small ball, slowly falling into an uneasy nap. The boy sits down on the ground and whispers, “My name is Meeka. Thank you for saving me. You are really brave. What’s your name?” Meeka asks in a very soft but high pitched tone. Nyx lightly whispers her name in the boy’s soft leg. Meeka smiles. “Thank you, Nyx.” he whispers.
